DON CHAPPELLE GOES GREEN

AND LETS EVERYONE KNOW !

Few of us are not into the re-cycling thing in some way or another, filling blue boxes with cans, plastic bottles and the like, separating paper and cardboard and so on.

Don Chappelle, Brilliant Ice Sculpture, North Andover- Lawrence, MA has developed a ‘green’ page on his company’s web site that spells out quite clearly what he does in the name of ‘green’ responsibility.

Much of it is common sense and I am sure there are other ice companies that contribute in their own way, but to see how Brilliant Ice has laid out their agenda bears special acknowledgement.

Here’s a sample:-

At the end of the day when the party is over, our sculptures will end up watering trees, vegetable gardens, flower beds as opposed to filling up dumpsters and then, landfills.

Brilliant Ice Sculpture creates cutting edge yet sustainable products that help minimize the impact of waste by the hospitality industry for event planning.

1.  We deliver 95 % of our sculptures with low-emission vehicles.

2.  We re-use or re-cycle our plastic drip trays, lights and foam after use.

3.  Our plant is heated by our freezer condensers only.

4.  We re-cycle ice left over from ice sculpture production to chill water for the next batch of blocks – an energy saving of 25 % per block.

5.  Brilliant Ice Sculpture creates very little waste materials other than organic, earth-healthy waste; minimal plastic is used in the making of ice blocks which is re-used several times for packing materials.

6.  We use only natural ingredients, we do not use chemicals of any kind in the process of crating these amazing sculptures.

7.  Only organic cleaning products are used in the cleaning of our facility.

The ‘green’ page hasn’t gone unnoticed either and Don can contribute several orders to his initiative.

Well done Don. Leading by example is the way to get a message across and understood. I am sure others are doing many of the things that Don has listed, so why not go further and capitalize on your initiative and turn it into a sales tool ?

Don told www.adviceinice.com that he has some more ‘green’ initiatives coming down the road – one involves wind power, and the other, special LED lighting in his studio freezer which will cut costs significantly.
