ICE PORTRAITS FEATURED

AT NEW MALL OPENING

Colored ice and snow portraits of past, well-known celebrities provided a challenge for Ice Art, Cape Town, South Africa. Portraits of surrealist artist, Salvadore Dali; actor, Marilyn Monroe; musicians and performers, John Lennon and Michael Jackson; and tenor, Pavorotti were created especially for the occasion.

The work was completed by hand and as company owner, James Cussen pointed out, ‘It was the first time we had tackled colored ice portraits and although it was a painstaking job, we were very pleased with the results’.

The event was the opening of New Cape Quarter, a new mall in the city and having some iconic characters of the past reproduced in ice certainly created an impact on visitors.
