LOOKING AROUND

The 9 ft high ice crystal tree designed by Heidi Bayley, Iceculture, incorporates cubes similar in size to those used on ice curtains.

It is proving to be a popular design as a ‘new-look’ Christmas tree with some event planners. About 10 blocks were used in the sculpture.

Decor and More, a prominent event planner in Toronto, featured this striking ice sculpture at the Kizmet wedding show.

The intricate Indian mendhi design is extremely effective in snow-filled graphics but it is a job for the CNC router.

A simple food display with a vegetable chiller – great for food presentations.

Frank De Conynck, Ice Art, Belgium worked with 13 Michelin Star-rated restaurants last summer and the dolphin fountain was part of the display.

The hose was frozen in the block and then the sculpture was completed.

Ice Art was also busy at the Miss Belgium pageant.

Corban Ice Company just outside Mexico City is operated by Eliseo Pulido. Eliseo sent in four of his designs – a simple Christmas tree, shard ice around a statue, ice balls and platter and an effective ice bar creation.

A combination of acrylic beads and ice make for an interesting dual purpose dessert station for a wedding reception. Initially, the bar was used for serving beverages and later, the acrylic bar top was removed and 6 in x 6 in containers of fruit were placed in the cavities.

Three interesting designs for a Toronto International Special Events Society meeting – an angled pillar vase with angled corner candles; a 4 ft wide martini bar supporting a candy cane luge.

The Ice Magic event in Paris involved 440 tons of ice. Famous Parisian landmarks such as the Notre Dame Cathedral (left) and the Eiffel Tower were displayed along the Champs-Elysee Avenue. There were 16 ice sculptors involved with the project.

Terry Gouley, Ice Masters, Midland, TX produced a three block cornucopia for the Odessa Country Club Thanksgiving celebration.

There were six fusions points in the sculpture and a full block tray was used to hold the shrimp for the banquet.
